Chevrolet Spark Unscheduled Tour

Chevrolet have launched a music tour that will cover the UK to announce the launch of the Spark.  Users on the Spark microsite can vote for their preferred venue for the "unscheduled tour". Currently in the lead are Brighton Pier & the Custard Factory in Birmingham. 

The campaign is supported by a Facebook page and Twitter.

This is a great example of an innovative campaign executed extremely well.  The key here is simplicity. You can vote without having to register and If you choose to apply for free tickets Chevrolet only request three fields of information - name, email and phone number. 

Good to see another car manufacturer embracing social media. A great campaign to build on Chevrolet's growing awareness and appeal to a younger audience. 

Chevrolet uses augmented reality on mobile & QR codes

Chevrolet Augmented Reality on the iphone

Chevrolet are the latest manufacturer to use augmented reality to promote their vehicles. The main difference to other uses of AR is it will be developed as an app for the iphone and combined with local functions to be used as a treasure-hunt style game.

Chevrolet Quick Response Codes

Chevrolet are also looking to introduce Quick Response (QR) codes on their vehicles to allow users to easily gain more information about the product or feature. I think this could be used effectively in the auto industry, especially in the dealerships for used cars.
